What is LSASS Error?

One of the essential programs that compose Microsoft Windows is the LSASS program. LSASS is acronym for Local Security Authority Services System, a program responsible for distinguising different kinds of users. It identifies limited users, Power users and system administrators as well as evaluates the validity of user inputs during log-ins. LSASS prevents anyone from getting in to Windows when incorrect passwords are entered. Once this program is corrupted, it will be difficult for anyone to get in to windows Desktop even with a correct information entered.

Similar to other Windows programs, LSASS is dependent on an underlying code contained in files commonly known as .dll. The risk is that .dll codes are mostly used by many programs, and could possibly cause lsass.exe error. The lsass program will not work properly if it happens to depend on a corrupted or missing .dll file. Accidentally deleting a .dll file is more likely to happen especially when you are deleting old programs. If any program for that matter is mistakenly deleted or corrupted, .dll is not going to work properly or may not work at all.

Another possible cause of lsass program corruption is the unexpected termination of the program. LSASS is so sensitive of a program that if it happens that it halts in an unexpected or premature circumstances, it would cause a corruption and most likely a malfunction with the program.

Due to it sensitivity as a program, it is too vulnerable to most Trojans, worms, and any malicious softwares. The LSASS program is the primary defense of Windows from unauthorized user access and if it gets corrupted, it can deny even an authorized user from having access to files and data.

One of the uncommon worms that also penetrates lsass program is the Sasser worm. There are also other worms that imitates the Sasser worm. This worm attacks fiercely and manipulates security weaknesses in Windows. Microsoft has already fixed this hole in which Sasser worm penetrates.

Frequent shutting down and rebooting of your system is another sign that your lsass program has been infected by a Sasser worm. The error message caused by these worms is telling you that there is something wrong with your LSASS program.
